Lead Game Developer: Maximillion Shultz

The main idea is to recreate the original, classic six-degrees-of-freedom game Descent with modern technology; in this case Unreal Engine 3 in the popular form of the Unreal Development Kit (UDK).

It allows great flexibility with whatever 3D game you want to make, and although programming a 6DOF game with it is challenging, this is how far I came in a few weeks:

~ Complete 6DOF movement with proper acceleration on every axis and double/triple chording.
~ Weapon system basics for primary and secondary weapons that can be fired simultaneously.
~ Laser and ball fire projectiles.
~ Basic robot AI, currently tailored to the Class 1 and 2 Drone.
~ Spawn points for easy placement of robots in a map.

..When was the last time this group was active?... I've seen groups with 20,000 pageviews but they have only been a group for like 2 months.

I must admit I don't get involved with the group as much as I should. The eye is firmly on the prize, that being the development of the game. Please follow the links on the homepage for further info. 

We will add more content as and when we can. As for the games release it's in the final stages for a multiplayer demo :)

You should at least join the SOL forums, if not the Dev forum - so you'll still be informed if & when we go commercial.

It's been discussed with Interplay, and we're still waiting for the final outcome.
But, just to be safe - and avoid any naming type mix ups, we've decided to go with 'SOL Contingency' - same #Descent-To-UDK just using our unique & original game name.

Hey, I know this is a long shot, but does anybody know where I could get a good, high-res 3D model of the Pyro-GX in 3DS Max format? I've always wished they made toys/figurines of this game, and now that you can upload 3D models to sites and get shipped a 3D print of your model, I've been wanting to make that childhood dream come true. Problem is, I can't seem to find a downloadable model anywhere, I figure you guys would be able to help out!

I know there is one in that format somewhere on the web, but I don't remember where exactly - although I do believe there is also one on DA as well.

And the link I gave you before, isn't a direct link to a 3DS file - but an ASE format Pyro in a zip archive on one of the sites MetalBeast has posted his Descent models.
So, you have to scroll down half a page to click the link and download, unzip & convert it to a 3ds.

ASE is also a 3dsMax model format(ASCII) that can be imported by many mainstream modelling apps.

ummmm... weeeelllll......
small PC/iOS arpg that involves cross-platform-play on same save - in example when you start to play on friend`s ipad, continue on iphone (in bus/train/tram) and finish on pc (simple, yet nice)
